ADAMS, ILOCOS NORTE— In a valley up north is Adams, an undiscovered town rich in culture and blessed with natural wonders.
Going there is already an adventure because you have to go through a rocky road before reaching the town. If you want to use your own vehicle, make sure that it is built for driving off-road.
Here are a few activities that you might want to try while visiting Adams:
Hike in a nearby rainforest --- If you are fond with the scent of nature and green scenery, you can hike in a forest nearby. Make sure to bring a bottle of water when you hike because there are lots of obstacles along the way.
Catch the sun rise on top of Mt. Magnas and Pico de Loro--- You can start your day by waking up early to catch the astonishing view while feeling the cool mountain breeze on the high mountain top. This will surely energize you throughout the day.
Trek to Anuplig Falls--- If you’re craving for more adventure, a trek to Anuplig Falls is one of the great ways to experience and satisfy your desire.
Before you get there, you will be clinging on to vines, going up on slippery and steep slopes and stepping on large stones patched on a loose eroded soil. A rewarding picturesque view of crystal-clear waterfalls will be your prize. You can also take a swim after the trek.
Take a dip at Bolu River--- On your way back, don’t forget to pass by the turquoise water of Bolu River. Many locals fish along the river banks. You will see huts near rice fields and hanging bridges that locals traverse from one town to another.
Learn more about the local culture--- Adams is not a typical tourist spot where you can find inns and hotels thus the locals show their hospitality by offering “home stay” accommodations at a reasonable price of 250 pesos a night. Not only will you save money, but you’ll also surely make new friends. You’ll also get to know firsthand information about local cultures and packed a lot of stories on your way back home.
Adams indeed is a hidden town worth visiting when you’re in Ilocos Norte.
