Tropical Storm Nina is now in Philippines

MANILA -- Tropical Storm "Nina" with international name "Prapiroon" has entered the philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa said in its weather bulletin as of 11 a.m. of October 8, Nina was located at 1,260 kilometers (km) East of Cagayan with a maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometer per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Pagasa said Nina is forecast to move west at 9 kph, but it is still far to directly affect any part of the country.

Meanwhile, a low pressure area (LPA) was estimated 340 km East of Infanta, Quezon (15.0°N, 125.2°E). This will bring occasional light to moderate rains or thunderstorms over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (Calabarzon), and Bicol Region.

As of posting, no public storm signal has been raised. (Pagasa/Sunnex)
