Ranidel de Ocampo of TNT gets Player of the Week honors award

MANILA, Philippines – Talk 'N Text forward Ranidel de Ocampo earned Player of the Week honors for the period of April 15-21 after spearheading the Tropang Texters' drive to the semi-finals of the PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The veteran de Ocampo was one of the locals who took up scoring cudgels in TNT's two games against Petron last week.
He averaged 19.5 points to go along with 5.5 rebounds as the Texters swept the Blaze Boosters, 100-93 and 96-86, to advance to the Final Four of the conference.
"No question, Ranidel was solid as a rock for us in the series versus Petron," TNT coach Norman Black told the league website. "His performance inside the lane and beyond the three-point line was the key."
De Ocampo made of 15 of his 23 field goal attempts against Petron, including four of nine shots beyond the arc.
With former PBA MVP Kelly Williams out and import Jerome Jordan struggling due to foul trouble, de Ocampo also helped defend Petron's bigger frontline.
"At this point of the conference, he seems fresh and energetic, and he recognizes that he really needs to be consistent in the absence of Kelly Williams," Black said.
The Texters will face perennial crowd favorites Ginebra in the semi-finals, after the Gin Kings upset the twice-to-beat Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in their own quarter-finals match-up.
