The makers of upcoming horror flick Sadako 3D 2 have a secret in store for cinema goers -- all they ask is that you turn your phone on during the screening.
According to a report on TokyoHive, it has been announced that the upcoming action-horror movie 'Sadako 3D 2' is going to ask its viewers to turn on their smartphones and to download a certain application prior to the screening.
This is going to be first time the viewers are actually encouraged to leave their phones turned on during a movie.
The producers are aiming to deliver a "4D" experience with this experiment. With the app on your phone, it's going to react to certain scenes during the movie and enhance the overall frightening experience. Some of the features include your phone ringing at the same time a phone is ringing in the movie, random screams coming from your phone's speakers, and a surprise from Sadako herself immediately following the end of the movie.
'Sadako 3D' was previously in the news for its unique promotional campaigns, including Sadako appearing at a baseball opening pitch or on the streets of Shibuya, and the new movie aims to become a "horror attraction" that can be experienced in many different ways.
This app is going to become available for iOS and Android for free in early August. 'Sadako 3D 2' will hit cinemas on August 30. The protagonist is played by actress Takimoto Miori in this film.
